September Wrap-Up

I would hate to not have every detail of my exciting life documented for the world to see, so here are a few things I didn't get around to writing about.

On the 12th, we went to an awesome wedding and reception. I met Amanda for the first time way back when at Ricks College. She stayed in our apartment with us overnight and had a couple of adventures with all of my roommates. I'm pretty sure it included a trip to the ice caves and to Craigo's. She was the first of Gabe's cousins that I met. This is significant because he has a lot of cousins. Also, because I got to see what an awesome family he had (and how important they were to him).

Good Thing #2 made an awesome effort at soccer this month. His team didn't win much (ever), but it was sure fun to watch him hustle after the ball. I've got to say that 1st grade ball was a lot more fun to watch than Kindergarten ball. With 3 guys playing defense there were fewer kids huddled around the soccer ball.

Good Thing #2 also had a Grandparents program at school. He was pretty excited that G-ma Gunderson came with G-pa and G-ma Poulsen and also G-ma Baugh. Though, even with all that support he couldn't help but mention his disappointment that G-pa's Gunderson and Baugh couldn't be there. He is a funny kid. Here is a very short video clip of one of his songs. It is worth watching. (He is the kid on the bottom row with the striped shirt, who struggles getting his fingers working on, "1,2,3" and waves at the end).

I mentioned here that the boys have been VERY interested in our neighbor serving in the military. They dutifully prayed for "Dan in the Army" and often asked me when he would get home. Well, Dan, who served in the Marines Corps (I'm sure God understood the prayer) came home the end of the month. What a homecoming it was too! It seemed like the whole Spanish Fork Fire Department was present to welcome him home. I may be exaggerating, but I think there were 2 giant fire trucks, 5 ambulances, and 10 police cars that escorted him into the neighborhood. Did I mention it was 9:20pm and that their lights were flashing and sirens were on? Quite a sight for our sleepy neighborhood, pretty emotional too.

And finally, we were able to enjoy 24 hours away from Utah County this last week. We headed to Park City with some family and had a great time, though we were in shorts and it snowed. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool, going out to eat, and the Olympic Park Museum.
