Blankets, blankets everywhere

Grandma Baugh has given each of my babies a fleece blanket when they are born. All of my children have loved the soft goodness of their blankets. But, because we will have no sissy's at our house, my DH takes the baby blankets away when he sees the kids getting too attached to them. Currently GT#4 is the only one who has her blanket still, because she doesn't have to be tough yet. It is a special day when I get the blankets out for GT#1 and GT#2, but this post is really about GT#3...

Good Thing #3 LOVES having a blanket. About a year ago, I swiped some fleece from my mom and made him the tractor blanket which he loved for awhile, but abandoned in favor of the road mat that Grandma Gunderson brought over.
He carried that road mat blanket around non stop and could often be found laying on my bed twisting it in his arms. About 6 months ago DH decided it was time to put all of GT#3's blankets up. We got down the cool sleeping bag for him to use (and was too heavy to carry around and twist up).
At night time this worked fine, but DH wasn't around for the hard nap times. GT#3 would cry and then lay awake (though he was so tired), or throw a fit. When it got real bad I would sneak him a blanket and he would go right to sleep. One day, when I hadn't given in, GT#3 was resourceful and found the blanket that was stuffed in his toddler bed. This was a random IHC blanket that was there to fill in space between the mattress and the edge of the bed. Guess what? He has a new blanket that he carries around, wants to sleep with, and twists in his arms. He loves his "hospital blanket" as he affectionately calls it.

I guess the lesson is, let him have a blanket, it can't be that bad for him, right? Besides, it gives me great power when he is not obeying (Do you want me to take away your blanket?)

Funny kid.

ETA: I was unduly hard on my DH in this post. The truth of the matter is I couldn't do this without him. Thanks hon for all your help raising our crew.

Sounds like Gabe is a bit of a sissyophobic. I am so glad Ben was able to make do with what he had. Very cute!
