December Happenings: Part 1

December happenings included:

-Watching Samuel and Elisabeth sing in the school choir concert.  Elisabeth's group sang two of my favorites, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and "Were You There?"
-Making the kids get their picture taken.  It was painful for most of them.
-Samuel dressing as Jimmy Carter for his White House tea.
-Me participating with Witness Music in a Christmas concert.  It was fun to dust my French Horn off and play again, though I did go through a depression period...."Why can't I play well anymore?  I'll never be good enough for first chair.  I hate myself."  I got over it by remembering that I'm in the business of mothering right now, not musicianship.
-Babysitting cousin Noah.  Eve asserted herself as the boss.  "No, no, no Noah!"
-Ben participating in a reading reward activity, which was making graham cracker houses with the principal.  I got to prepare 22 bags of frosting for said activity.
-Attending Samuel's 5th grade recorder concert.  I call this parenting karma for all the delightful concerts my parents attended.
-Finishing up a 6 week ice skating/hockey class for Jacob, Samuel and Ben.
-Helping out in Jacob's classroom.  The 6th graders made graham cracker "houses" for their Christmas party.  I'd say Jacob's was one of the top 3 coolest.
-Having fun with our Elf.  The kids enjoyed finding "Elfie" each morning especially when he brought something to them (DVD of Despicable Me 2, doughnuts, cakes, pens and activity books, and a pile of nickels to use at the arcade) and sending him back to the North Pole with Christmas lists.
-Counting down the days until Christmas.
-And looking cute.
