Week 8: Summer Fun

We enjoyed the 24th of July this last week (the kids and I at least, DH worked like 15 hours that day). I ran in the Speedy Spaniard 10k, and though all the other ladies in my ward beat me, I got my goal (finish under an hour) with a 59:42. We went to the big parade downtown and luckily none of my kids got run over. GT#1 was so determined to get the candy and other loot that I got pretty concerned at times.

Next was the Carnival where the boys got to choose 3 rides to go on. GT#1 and GT#2 got scared on the big kid ride, so I caved and bought some more tickets so they could ride the dragon roller coaster and end on a good note. Our next activity was picnic and fun at the Salem Pond with the Poulsens and Gundersons. I love how the Gunderson's (DH's dad's fam) and the Poulsen's (DH's mom's fam) are all friends. Two of his cousins even married each other (in a non Arkansas kind of way). Thanks to G and D for always providing the awesome brats, sausages, and fixings. The boys ran wild for hours, and because of their life jackets I let 'em.

Special thanks to the Pioneers. I'm sorry I'm a complainer about child rearing, transportation, yucky food, being hot, being cold, and having my husband work a lot. It pales in comparison to the lives you had.
