Christmas Day was spent opening a few presents Santa brought and a few mom brought. All children were quite happy. We had a great morning as a family and headed to the Baugh's later. We had a great time there as well. I may or may not have received a totally awesome blender from my mom and dad. You will have to come over for a smoothie to see for sure.
A couple days before Christmas I put a few presents under our tree. I've never done that before. The boys counted who had the most and thoroughly explored each gift. A couple of them felt jilted to see that GT #1 had the most. He made them feel better by telling them it was just clothes so not to get too jealous. Later GT #3 said that this would be the worst Christmas ever since all he was getting was clothes. He told Gabe, "Can you please tell Santa Claus to bring me some toys?" For all the complaining the boys did they sure love their Gold Toe socks, really. Ask them which socks are the best in the world, GT's #1 and #2 will tell you. Happily, Santa brought toys and everyone was quite pleased with the fun things they received.
A couple days later GT#2 asked if we could go to a restaurant. I told him no and he said, "but it's the holidays!" I said, "I spent every cent I had on Christmas" to which he replied, "Boy, those socks must have been really expensive!" Funny kids.
This year we did our Christmas advent scripture reading again. I was going to find something else to do, but a certain five year old, convinced me that we should do it. I was touched that he felt like it was a part of our Christmas tradition. We were blessed again this year by thoughtful parents and secret neighbors. It brings a lot of tender feelings to my heart the generosity of those around me. Thank you.
