Things worth noting

1. On September 26th I was voted the best mom ever by my 3 boys.

We don't get out much, so when the kids had the day off from school I was determined to take them somewhere other than a grocery store. We drove up SF canyon, found a turn off and went on a hike. We didn't make it very far because my kids are a bit wimpy (probably as a result of not getting out very often), but we had a great time. The kids collected leaves and sticks and other miscellaneous treasures, threw rocks in the stream, and told me no less than 10 times that this was a great day, and they were having so much fun, and that it was so beautiful and we should take 100 pictures.

My DH took them up to the Father and Son's camp out later that night. They didn't sleep over, but loved going out to eat, hearing dad tell them stories, and sliding in the dirt. I guess we both win the best parent award.

2. Primary Presentation: This went very well. I have to say I was VERY impressed by the kids who had their scriptures parts memorized. I thought it was really powerful having them quote scriptures. And out of 50+ lines the kids said only like 5 needed help. Great work kids and parents. The songs were beautiful, too.

Good thing's #1 and #2 both did well memorizing their lines...and Good Thing #3 did pretty well too, just this morning he started saying "I feel Jesus and gospel through scriptures, Heavenly Father, and others." (This is a mixture of both the big boy's lines).

3. DH took some time off from life and went fishing with 2 of his cousins. He looks pretty excited holding this fish. I should let him out more often.

4. In other news, my DH has been working on his own for the last month and a half. He talks a bit about it on his blog. So, for our family this has meant tightening our belts a bit, holding off some home projects, hoping our cars don't die and that we don't have any medical problems. Oh, it also means lots and lots of patience. I try to keep morale high by scoring great deals on entertainment. I recently had a free game rental and we tried out Super Mario Galaxy for 2 weeks. I'm not very good at video games, but it sure was a fun stress reliever. I even started to dream in Mario, though it didn't improve my game.

5. The kids are happy and well. Good Thing #4 is well on her way to NOT walking and is fitting well within the parameters her brothers set. I expect before nursery she'll be up and at 'em. Good Thing #1 is doing GREAT on his reading, no thanks to me, and lost another tooth (7 gone now). Good Thing #2, is doing well in Kindergarten, loving his class, and learning a lot. Good Thing #3, is still crazy about cars, trucks, movies, blankets and can actually say a thoughtful prayer these days. I'm busy running the house, running my legs, and getting my groove on (which I don't have) with my friends (thanks Turbo Jam).

Sounds like you've had a fun couple of weeks.

My kids did have their lines memorized for the program and recited them beautifully for us over and over, but of course when they got up in front of all those people their minds froze. I think they still did awesome for 5 and 6 yr olds! The program was very touching.

"I like it! I like it! I love it! I love it!" So did you EAT the fish Gabe caught? Just wondering.

I saw the Turbo Jam infomercial, and I totally wanted to get it. I made Nate watch some of it, maybe he got the hint to let me buy it in February.

On the Monday previous to the Primary Program, we reviewed and sung all of the songs and each child memorized their part.

This worked out well for us.

And great job on the program- I thought it went beautifully.
